Stingrays and Camels at the Zoo!

I took some vacation time the week of July 4th, and one of the things we did was go to the Zoo.  It was a perfect, overcast and cool day for the zoo.  The new summer exhibit is Stingray Beach.  It is an indoor water area with stingrays swimming around.  It really wasn't anything spectacular, but none the less it was something new to see.  We bought "food" to feed the stingrays.  The girls were so excited, until they saw what the "food" was.  It was a shrimp, and they were both instantly grossed out!  Avery wouldn't even touch it.  Lily put it between her fingers just like she was instructed and she placed her hand in the water.  As soon as the stingray touched her hand, she freaked out and dropped it.  They were both done after that.

We moved on to another new thing at the zoo...camel rides!  Lily was big enough to ride alone, and Avery needed me to go with her.  I feel bad about it now, but each person was $5, so I told Avery she wasn't big enough.  The "ride" was one very small lap around...not worth $15!  Funny story...Avery says to me, "Mommy, Lily is riding a camel and do you know what day it is?  HUMP DAY!"  It was Wednesday and she was correct...so funny!
