Daddy Turns 34!

Jason celebrated his 34th birthday on February 9th.  He took the girls to church while mom competed in an indoor triathlon...yes I left him on his birthday...only for a few hours though.  When I got home, we watched him open his presents and had some lunch at one of the new restaurants at the new Gretna outlet malls.  Avery gave him a new travel coffee mug, Lily gave him a new Under Armor shirt and Under Armor socks and I gave him Nike Basketball shorts and a Nike workout shirt...we all did pretty good.  The only thing he returned was the shorts, and he got some Under Armor sandals instead.  It was FREEZING cold that day, and since the outlet mall is all outside we didn't stay long.

We hung out at home until dinner time, and then we took Dad to Joe's Crab Shack...we hadn't been there before.  It was a fun atmosphere and the food was pretty good.  The girls had a blast dancing with the waitress and playing with the different toys they give you.  Avery, as usual, didn't eat a thing and she threw a fit when we left.  We got home and sang to Dad and the girls helped him blow out his candles...and then we ate cake and went to bed!  I made his cake, which looked like Avery made it.  My mom actually asked me if Lily made it...what a smart mouth!  It may have looked like a child made it, but it tasted delicious!

It's the thought that counts...right?!

YMCA Daddy Daughter Dance

Jason took the girls to the Daddy Daughter Dance at our YMCA.  We missed it last year, so I'm happy it worked out this year.  It is a neat event and a nice way for the girls to spend alone time with their Daddy.  They got all dressed up and danced the night away and they enjoyed some cookies and punch too!

We are at the YMCA nearly everyday of the week, so the girls have lots of friends there.  Lily had fun seeing her preschool friends there, and Avery...well she was crying when I snuck up for some pictures...but I think she  still had a good time!

 My loves...

 One lucky daddy!

Mom Turns 34!

Wow, what a GREAT 34th birthday I had this year...probably one of my top 10!  I don't give Jason enough credit, ever, but I am a lucky girl to have him.  He is a wonderful husband and daddy and I love him very much.  He really did a knock out job this year on my birthday...well...except for his gift, but that is okay because I had just ordered myself a new pair of running shoes so I counted that as my gift from him! :)

I started the day with a workout at the gym with a dear friend, and then I spent the rest of the afternoon with my girlies.  They sang "Happy Birthday" to me all day long...loved it!  Jason had made reservations the week prior, and I had NO IDEA where we were going...just kidding...I did.  He was still logged into the computer on his profile and I went to the Internet and saw www.crave.com.  The link wasn't to the Crave restaurant in Omaha, but I had a feeling that is what he was trying to look up.  I'm terrible, I know, but it was an accident!  Anyways, we went to Crave in Midtown Crossing for dinner.  I have always wanted to try it, so it was a perfect choice made by him!  I loved the atmosphere and the appetizers, but neither of us were totally impressed with what we got.  I'd go again, and maybe just get something different. I got the baked Macaroni and he got chicken stir fry.  The sushi that we had for an appetizer was yummy though, and the biggest bonus was that the girls ate FREE!!

After dinner, we went to Jones Brothers Cupcakes because that was the only thing I had asked for...a Black and White cupcake from there...YUMMY!  We had our dessert and came home to open presents.  The girls got me a Scooter's gift card...score!  Jason got me a wine rack thing and some wine picture things...they went back...sorry Jason...I know you tried and I appreciate that!  I just didn't have anywhere to put them in the house.  My mom and dad got me a bunch of new running clothes...always a hit with me!

Thank you to everyone for the texts, emails and Facebook messages...it was a GREAT DAY!

Avery is just a little excited for all of that frosting!

New Years Eve

New Years Eves are much different when you have small children, but I must say that I think I like them more!  Jason and I had take out Chinese food and the girls had McDonald's.  We made cookies and drank fake sparkling Champagne (well, Jason and I had real wine).  Jason bought the girls glow sticks and they had a ball playing with those!  We stayed up late enough this year to watch the ball drop in NYC, and then the little ones tucked out and fell asleep on the couches.  I only stayed up past midnight to register for the Lincoln Half Marathon...registration opens up midnight and it sells out fast, so I had to get my spot!

Christmas Day

As usual, Avery was the first one up on Christmas morning (besides me).  I was in the kitchen making breakfast when I heard her little footsteps.  I quickly ran upstairs to stop her, and I told her she needed to wake up Lily and Daddy before coming to see what Santa had brought.  Lily usually HATES to wake up, but Christmas morning was an exception.  They couldn't stand the excitement!  Jason got the video camera and caught the expression on their little faces...LOVE!

Everyone opened up their gifts and we ate breakfast as a family.  Jason played with the girls while I finished up in the kitchen.  After we ate, we got dressed and celebrated Christmas at my parents house with my Grandma.  Jason and I were both on vacation over Christmas, so it was nice to spend time together as a family.

Lily got a new bike from Santa and Avery got the Doc McStuffins Check Up Center (quite the ordeal getting that)!!  They each got a new pair of shoes and some pajamas.  Lily got an Easy Bake Oven, a Loom Bracelet Kit and some recipes for her new oven.  Avery got a new bedtime book, Lalaloopsy doll and a Palace Pet.  They both got Frozen stuff in their stockings and some candy.
