My Little Chubby Sue

I love this picture of my Little Chubby Sue.  Chubby Sue you may ask...I don't know...just a nickname and it has stuck.

Swimming Lessons

We signed Lily up for swimming lessons at the YMCA.  We were hoping for a better outcome than we had with basketball.  She loves to swim and she loves baths, and she has been asking to swim in the pool at the Y for a long time now.  Tonight was her very first lesson.  She is in the PIKE class which is for 3-4 year olds.  Night one turned out to be a huge success!  She loved it...we loved it...she was happy...we were happy!  She did ask why grandpa didn't come to watch her, so if you are reading this grandpa...you better come next time!  The class is every Tuesday night for 8 weeks (I think) for 30 minutes.  The length is perfect because it is just long enough to hold their attention and too long to bore them.  She thinks she is Nemo, Dorie, Ariel, and Bruce the shark now...thanks to her daddy.  We are members at the Y so it was nice to be able to drop Avery off in the daycare room and be able to focus on watching Lily.  Avery did not like this and cried most of the time.  Jason and I tried to workout afterwards, but there was a line for the equipment and Avery was still crying.  We hope to go before the lesson next week to avoid the crowd! Notice the big skull butterfly tattoo on Lily's tummy??? It has been on for over a week now and I can't get it off!

Lily's Science Project

What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than to do a SCIENCE PROJECT!  It wasn't much but it was enough to keep Lily happy and entertained for a little while.  Lily filled two glasses up with mostly water and then she poured about an inch of vegetable oil in.  We were learning how water and oil never mix.  She thought this was pretty neat because she could see two distinct layers of water and oil.  Next, Lily poured in food coloring into the glasses...starting with the lighter colors (yellow and red) first.  The food coloring stays in little drops in the oil.  When it sinks past the oil and into the water it is like FIREWORKS (not really)!  The food coloring disperses and goes all over.  The green and blue are dropped in last because they really take over and make a big dark blob once they hit the water.  She mixed the glasses up when she was done and the colored water stayed on the bottom and the oil stayed clear on the top...pretty cool!  This was a fun one to do because she could do the whole thing all by herself.

Valentine Contest

Jason's work had a Valentine's Day art contest for kids last week.  Lily entered a painting that she had made.  She is holding her painting and her prize in the above picture!  She didn't win the contest, but she did get some Hershey Kisses for entering...she was happy with that!

A Play Date and an Antibiotic

The girls and I met my good friend, Jessica and her daughter Rylee, today for a play date at Burger King.  It is always nice to get in some adult conversation and have the kiddos be able to play all at the same time.  Lily barely at anything...Avery at everything...and they had a good time with a good little friend.  The girls have been on a few fun little play dates with their little buddies in the past few months.  We have been to Playdaze twice now with Ethan, Ellie, Talan, Cy, Jax, Lauren and Evan.  I didn't post anything then because I didn't have any pictures to go along!

After Burger King the girls came home and took a nap...they desperately needed one!  They had both been sick last week and Lily had woken up from her nap on Monday at daycare crying.  She woke up last night crying saying that her ear hurt, and then again today saying her ear hurt.  She was crying pretty hard and I could tell she really was in pain.  I called the peds office and they got us in right away.  She does have an ear infection and she is now on a 10 day course of Amoxicillin.  This is blog worthy because it is her first ever ear infection and her first ever antibiotic.  No fevers...just an ouchie in her right ear :)  Hopefully in a day or two the pain will go away.  I'm happy to have made it 3 1/2 years without an antibiotic!  I had the Dr. look in Avery's ears too since we were there (25 minute drive) and hers are all clear!

Valentine's Day 2012

Our Valentine's Day in pictures...
 The girls' Valentines for daycare

Lily and Avery making Daddy a very special Valentine
Avery wanting to help out...or just eat the glue :)
Opening up their gifts from mom and dad
Not sure why Avery was so mad!

Notice the change in Avery's outfit...she choked on a chip and puked all over herself:(

Of course they got their very own heart shaped cheese pizza...made with love by mommy!
Daddy's Valentine from the girls...Lily made it all by herself!
Some cute little Valentine animals...(Pinterest idea :))
Love Bugs!

They also got Valentine's from Grandma Romaine and Grandpa Eddie, Aunt Trina, Uncle John, Justin, Rachel and Mitchell, and from GaGa and PaPa.  Lily helped me bake some pink heart shaped cookies, but we don't have a picture of those....Daddy took some to work and Lily didn't even want to eat any.  We had fun baking and making fun little crafts.  We sent their daycare Valentines on Monday since they weren't there yesterday for the party.  The girls got their own little cheese pizza and Jason and I made one with all the fixins.  It was a nice little night at home with our girls.  We hope everyone enjoyed the day!

Baby It's Cold...INSIDE!

When I got home from work on Sunday morning I found this...(see below)...

I said to her, "Oh, did you and daddy go get donuts this morning," and then I looked on the couch and saw Jason all bundled up in his coat and stocking hat.  I didn't feel how cold it was yet because I had just come in from outside and I still had my coat on.  He was probably thinking, "NO STUPID WE DIDN'T GO GET DONUTS...IT'S COLD as @#%* IN HERE!"  Lily was still snuggled up in bed so it hadn't bothered her yet.  Jason said he woke up freezing around 4am, and had been up ever since trying to fix the problem.  He had called all of his brothers trying to troubleshoot what was wrong and trying to avoid a very expensive Sunday visit by the heating and air conditioning service man.
Nothing was fixing the heater so he called A1 Heating and Cooling.  The very nice guy told him that it was probably the fuse and to save $145 to go out and buy a new one.  Jason went to 3 different places before finding what he needed.  He got home, replaced the fuse, and NOTHING!  I was crabby by now because it was 10:00am, I had been up all night at work and I had to work again that night.  He called the service guy back and he would be here in an hour because he was in Council Bluffs.  He called back a few minutes later and told Jason to put the door back on because there was a door switch...VOILA...it worked...we had heat again!  I am so thankful that the service man was kind enough to walk Jason through everything on the phone and that $145 ended up only costing $4 for a fuse!

The Sicky Ickys

We had a bout of the sicky ickies in our house last week.  It..was...awful!  When Lily got home from daycare on Monday I could tell she was getting a cold and her voice was a little hoarse.  She was okay most of Tuesday, but by Tuesday night she had a low grade fever.  She woke up Wednesday morning with a temp and nasty cough.  She was pretty miserable throughout the day.  After the Motrin and in between fever spikes she was back to playing and doing okay...as they usually are.  We kept her home from Church on Wednesday night and she was up all night long coughing.  She would cough so hard she would wake herself up (and everybody else) and just cry and cry.  She told me that her chest hurt and her throat hurt...great.  Same thing for the next 2 days...fever, cough and yucky nose.  For 3 days straight she coughed so hard she puked...same spot everyday...in the kitchen.  At least I finally got my kitchen floor mopped:).  I usually try to hold off taking them into the peds office until the 4-5th day.  If they still have a fever and aren't feeling well I will take them in, but it is always the same thing...a virus that has to run its course and a lot of money!

Avery started out Thursday night with a low grade fever and woke up Friday morning with a temp, cough, and yucky nose.  She was tugging at her ear a bit too.  They were both better by Saturday and pretty much all better on Sunday except for runny noses.  I did not take them in to see the Dr. and I'm thankful that it has ended and that they are on the mend!  I'm thankful that I was off for the 4 days they were sick so I could be with them, but I'm not gonna lie...I was worn out by the end of it!  I was pretty cranky...Jason can verify that!

Dad Turns 32!

Last Thursday was Jason's 32nd birthday.  The girls and I made him a cake while he was gone at work and then Ma and Pa Mike watched the girls for a quick hour that night so we could go out to dinner.  The girls were in the middle of their few days of not feeling well, so we didn't want to stay out long.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the new Kobe steakhouse in Village Pointe.  Happy Birthday Daddy!
