Father's Day

I think Jason makes a pretty darn good daddy to his two little girls, and who knows...maybe next year he'll have a 3rd little princess contending for his lap!?!  He'd like a little boy, I'm  sure, but I know he'd love another little girl just as much as he loves the two he has today.

I worked the night before Father's Day, so Jason took the girls to church while I slept.  We took Daddy to dinner that night at Longhorn Steakhouse and let him open his presents.  We thought he might like a Fit Bit...he DID mention it ONCE, but he didn't think he needed one, so we had to return it.  Fail on mom's part!  He did enjoy his Snickers bars though!  He not only brings joy to the girls, but he also puts a smile on my face when I see him and how he is with them.  We may have our disagreements and arguments, but I know one thing for sure...he ROCKS at being a daddy!

That's right...Baby #3 is due to arrive on December 20th!  Lily and Avery are so excited to be big sisters!  It might be a hectic Christmas this year, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

VBS...Son treasure Island

The girls had Vacation Bible School at our church the second week in June.  They look forward to this every year.  I was able to teach arts and crafts last year, but I had to save my vacation for the first week of school this year and wasn't able to help out.

This year's theme was Son Treasure Island.  The girls came home everyday singing new songs and practicing for the "big" show at the end of the week.  There are a few friends from the YMCA and Lily's preschool that go every year, so that made it extra fun!

I'm so proud of both Lily and Avery and for their love of Jesus.  They love going to church and they really seem to listen and pick up the message that is being taught.  Jason and I don't get them to church EVERY Sunday, but we do the best we can with our schedules.  We know we need to make a better effort.

Lily's Verse of the Week:

Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 13:4

Avery's Verse of the Week:

God loves us, he gave us his son.
John 3:16

Grandma B Celebrates 90 Years!

On May 23rd, my grandma celebrated her 90th birthday!!!  Wow...90 years YOUNG!  She is a very special lady and we love her very much.  My girls call her GaGa B, and just the other day they asked me how to spell her name.  I told them it is just the letter B.  Avery said, "but what is her other name?"  I told her that GaGa B's real name is Thelma LaVerne, but that we don't call her that and she doesn't like it.  Avery said, "but that is a pretty name."

My mom submitted a write up to the Omaha World Herald's Celebration section letting everyone know that LaVerne was celebrating 90 years.  She is a retired elementary school teacher from Mount View Elementary and my mom, aunt and uncle really wanted some of her students to see the write up.  My grandma's room number in school was 13, and that is her lucky number today and also her license plate number.  She is quite the stylish lady.  Her entire house is done in black and white...zebra dΓ©cor...no color.  She drives a little red Toyota Celica sports car with license plate number 13.  She is very artistic and she likes to dance.  It has been hard since Ray has passed away.  The two of them were the perfect fit for one another.

My mom, aunt and uncle arranged a surprise celebration lunch at her favorite casino...Ameristar.  There was a great turnout!  Some family came from out of state, and one of her grandsons and great grandsons came all the way from the Washington D.C. area to surprise her!  A few of her friends were there too.  I know she was surprised and I'm certain she was happy to see everyone who came to celebrate her special day with her.

She has 7 grandkids and 16 (17th on the way) great grandkids
