Kneifl Family "Christmas"

This past Saturday was the annual Kneifl Family Christmas in June.  I'm not sure if it is really called that anymore, but that is how it started several years back.  It is kind of like a family reunion...the holidays are always so busy for everyone, so this is a nice time to be able to get together and just sit back and enjoy every one's company.  Jason had family in from Minnesota, Texas, Iowa and Nebraska(that I am aware of).  I had some training classes here in Omaha on Friday and Saturday so Jason took the girls up on Friday morning.  They met Aunt Trina and family and Grandma Romaine in the Sioux City mall for lunch...Chick Fil A...yummy!  I met up with them in Newcastle at the reunion/Christmas on Saturday afternoon after my class.  The girls had a blast playing with their cousins...especially cousin Rachel!  Lily was asking all week long when she got to see Rachel.  Rachel...if you read this...we really appreciate the time you spend with our girls.  They look up to you and love you very much.  I know that with you being so much older it is sometimes hard to sit back and play with the "little kids" when you want to be off doing things your own age.  They really admire you and so do we!

CoUsInS

A few weeks ago I watched my nieces and my nephew.  I did this so Presley's Grandma Jane could have a day off (she watches her Monday thru Friday).  Everyone arrived bright and early at 6:00am and of course my kids decided to get up at this time too even though their norm is 9:00am.  We decided to load up the babies in the wagon and take a trip to the neighborhood park.  It was a beautiful morning.  Little did I know that we would be leaving 15 minute after we got there due to a minor baby injury.  I can't post the pic of the injury because it is on the phone that I recently lost, but it was a doozy.  I'm pretty sure I am fired from ever watching my niece, Presley, ever again!  I turn my back for 2 seconds to attend to my crying child who just fell down and I turn back around to see Presley fall to the ground on her little bum.  I go pick her up and while I'm putting the babies back into the wagon Maddie yells, "OH MY GOSH!"  I am thinking crap is she bleeding, and then I see this HUGE, GIGANTIC, PURPLE LUMP smack in the middle of Presley's forehead!  She wasn't crying anymore, but holy hell it was HUGE!  She was pushing the baby swing that I had just taken her out of and it knocked her smack in the head!  Maddie and Bubba were on the big swings next to her, Lily was across the playground and I was 10 feet away from her picking up Avery.  CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!  I called my sister right away and let her know what happened.  I felt awful.  I think of myself as fairly responsible, but how could I let this happen?!  We went home and attempted to hold ice on her head, but we all know that wasn't going to work with a 20 month old.  She was fine....eating, playing and having a good time with her cousins.  In a few hours the swelling had already gone down but it left a NASTY bruise...sorry Sis!

Pee Pee on the Potty!

This is way late, but I need to document Avery's very first pee pee on the potty!  She can tell me when she pees and when she has to poop, so I asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty.  She said yes, and so I sat her up on the potty on the Dora potty chair...and she went!  She was clapping and so proud of herself.  Her momma was pretty proud too.  I know this was just a fluke one time deal, but none the less it is a first and it was so super cute!  She still asks to sit on the potty, but she hasn't ever gone again on it.  She tells me when she has to poop and then she takes off running and hides just like Lily used to do.  She can also tell me after the fact when she has either pooped or peed.  I am a firm believer of they are ready when THEY are ready and there is no pushing them!  I'm in no hurry, but I do think it helps her seeing Lily going on the potty all of the time because of course she has to do EVERYTHING Lily does!

Memorial Day 2012

The above pictures are from the Boys Town 5 Mile Memorial Day Run.  I have finally been back to running for the last 4 months and it feels good.  If I want to be healthy and be around for my family I can't make excuses to not exercise anymore.  The route was a little more hilly than I had anticipated but I still came in under my goal time of 45 minutes.  I finished in 43:47.  The girls and Jason woke up at 6:45 to come and cheer me on...it was awesome!  I wanted to stop and walk at mile 4.75 and at the top of the hill  I hear "MOOOOOOOMMMMMMMYYYYY!"  I looked up and there they were...my babies and my hubby!  I had to finish strong for them!  I will continue to run all summer and I have been training for the Omaha Half Marathon on September 23rd.  The last time I ran this one was in 2007...5 years ago.  I am excited...except for the awful hills!  Who knows...I may just have one more FULL marathon in me?!
The rest of the pics are from a Memorial Day cookout that we hosted for my family at our house.  We got a new patio and fence put in a few weeks back so it is nice to be able to sit outside and not worry about someone running off!  The patio isn't completely finished. We still have landscaping to put in around it and around the deck and we will be purchasing a fire pit soon...can't wait!
