Husker Football Kickoff

My little Husker Fans!  Jason and I were fortunate enough to have gotten to go to the first Husker game of the year...thanks to my mom and dad.  My dad usually takes my niece or nephew, but this time he took us!  The lady who has the seats next to his said "You need to bring them more often, I really like them!" To which my dad replies "Maybe in another 10 years!"
My parents picked us up at 10:00am and we got to Lincoln around 11:00.  We ate lunch and enjoyed some adult beverages at Old Chicago.  It was hotter than heck out, but we still walked around for what felt like FOREVER before the game started. We went to the bookstore, around the University, and to Jason's brother's tailgate (Matt, Sabina and Miles were there).  It was fun running into them.  We headed into the stadium around 2:00pm.  I am a Husker fan, but not a die hard one as many Nebraskan's are.  I like football and I  like to see them win, but most of all I just like the atmosphere.  It is a fun time of year and there is nothing quite like Memorial Stadium on Husker game day!  We had a blast and we owe a HUGE THANK YOU to Jessica and Kevin for watching the girls all day!  As if her two kiddos aren't enough to manage!

The Sicky Ickies are Behind Us!

Last week was not a fun one in the Kneifl household!  Jason escaped the illness, but the rest of us got it.  Avery started the weekend before out with a slight fever.  I gave her some Motrin and she was fine.  Lily came home from daycare on Tuesday crying with a tummy ache.  She was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden started SCREAMING that her tummy hurt...the she puked.  She felt better after a bath and some cuddle time.  She ran a temp throughout the night, but woke up feeling better.

We all went about our ways, routines, schedules on Wednesday.  I worked Wednesday night until Thursday afternoon at noon.  I came home and went to bed and woke up with a fever and SHAKING chills.  I couldn't warm up so I slept in a hot bath.  I had horrible body aches, stomach ache, and zero energy.  I slept all of Thursday night and woke up Friday with fevers and chills and body aches so I called in sick to work for Friday night. Avery wasn't acting herself on Thursday.  She was whiny and crying most of the evening.  I was in bed and let Jason deal with her.  I heard from downstairs, "I need a little help here!"  By the time I got out of bed Jason had Avery in bathroom with a bath running.  Poor little thing threw up everywhere!  He got her bathed and in her jammies, and 20 minutes later I hear her crying again.  She threw up again!  She spent the rest of the night in bed with me.  She was feeling pretty crummy on Friday, but they were both better by the weekend.  I worked Saturday night and felt like poo on Sunday again.  My throat started hurting and I still had fevers.  Finally, by Tuesday of this week I felt pretty much 100% again.  I ran on Monday and Tuesday, but it hurt to breathe, and I still didn't have a whole lot of energy, but the fevers were gone.

We were supposed to have Jason's brother and his family (in town from California) stay at our house last Thursday, but due to the sicky ickys in the house it wasn't a good idea!  Jason was supposed to take the girls to the farm last weekend to see everyone, but couldn't do that either.  Finally, they will head to the farm tonight to see the fam!  We are glad to have this behind us!

Celebrating 5 Years of Marriage

On August 11th Jason and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary!  My mom and dad celebrated their 40th on the same day!  Jason and I have been together for over 10 years and we have made some pretty amazing memories together and I can't wait for what the next 5 years will bring to us and our family.  I hope to get to the 40 year mark with him!  I celebrated with a 20 mile run in the morning.  I had planned on getting up before anybody else, but he was already up at 5:30 and Avery woke up just as I was getting dressed.  Avery snuggled with her daddy and I headed out the door.  It was 60 degrees and perfect out the entire run!  Five years ago was also when I was training for my first marathon...feels great to be back there today!

I got home and we opened up our gifts to each other.  He knows me well...I got an Under Armour running outfit...pants and tank!  PERFECT!  He got a gift card to Husker Hounds...gotta have new gear for the new season!  We spent the rest of the afternoon doing some much needed cleaning and de-cluttering of our house (my sister came over this morning and would beg to differ...her idea of clean is much differnt than my idea of clean!).  Feels good to have it done!  I took a little nap with the girls, and I'm sure Jason could have used one, but by the time he laid down it was time to get ready for the evening.

We went out to dinner at the Bonefish Grille and it was delicious and they gave us a FREE dessert!  A coworker of mine and her son watched the girls and they had a blast!  So cute to hear that a 16 year old boy played dress up, princess and ballerina with my babies...love it!

My parents have been celebrating all week long...they went to the Lake of the Ozarks on Tuesday and Wednesday and then they met up with my brother and sister and their families on Thursday for a weekend in Kansas City.  We would have loved to have gone with, but we were just there a few weeks ago and this is a busy month at work.  Oh well...we had a great day and I can't wait for what the future holds for our family!

I had to reminisce back to our honeymoon...pictures below...we hope to get back there someday!

RIP Boots Kneifl

He joined our family on April 17th, 2012 and he left our family today on August 6th, 2012.
Boots Kneifl, our beloved Beta fish, died shortly after we cleaned his bowl tonight.  He hadn't eaten much all week as evidence by a bowl full of fish flakes, and started to turn a funny whitish/gray color.  The girls did get to play with him one last time after we cleaned his bowl tonight.  I gave Lily the choice to either flush him or bury him, and she wanted to bury him.  He is now buried in our backyard  underneath the deck and tomorrow's project is to make a cross for his burial site.
HECK...I'm thrilled I kept a fish alive for almost 4 months!
RIP Boots!
