Happy Birthday Daddy!

Dear Daddy,

Hi Daddy! Today you turned 30 years old. I am so happy that I got to spend all day with you and mommy. I'm glad that you didn't have to work today because days at home with you are the best. I love you very much.

Happy Birthday, Love and Hugs,

Lily Rose

Monkey Business

Climbed up in her Great Grandma's wheelchair
Showing some attitude after Mommy said , "Get down!"

She loves to make monkey noises and she loves to climb, climb, climb! She is my little monkey! I can't turn my back for one second without having to tell Lily to get down from something. Last night Jason was sitting on one couch and Lily climbed up on the other couch and Jason turned around to find her with my glass of pop in her hands. She is in to EVERYTHING! She climbs up on the couches, in the cupboards, in the fridge, in the pantry, onto chairs, and onto tables. She doesn't care if it is completely dark in a room...she will go there and I'll find her up on the couch by herself just sitting or getting into something. Her new thing is to climb up on the couch in the downstairs family room and dump my purse out. She is really quiet and sneaky and does it in the dark. Maddie had left a bag of pretzels out not too long ago and I found Lily up in the recliner just eating away at them! We went to visit my Grandma the other day and Lily climbed up in her wheelchair all by herself. So far we have been lucky and have had NO owies. We'll see how much longer we can carry on that streak!

Bare Bums

I wish I had a picture to go along with this post, but I don't. I'll try to get one soon though. I have heard of kids who don't like to wear clothes, but I never thought this would be my kid. Just recently Lily has started to take her clothes off during her nap, at the dinner table, and before bed. It's not all the time, but it has happened a few times this past week. The first incidence happened during one of her afternoon naps. I went into check on her and I found her lying there in just her diaper. I couldn't find her shirt...she had thrown it behind the crib and her pants were thrown over the side of her crib. I couldn't believe it! I didn't even know she could take her shirts off! I am thankful I didn't find her completely naked laying in poo or pee because she usually always takes her diapers off if she doesn't have pants or jammies on. Later that night at dinner Lily was in a highchair and she had thrown her sippy cup. I bent down for two seconds to pick it up and as I handed it back to her she once again had her shirt off. Not a big deal right?! Wrong...we were out to eat at Outback in public! Oh my...what will I do with her? Last night she took her jammies off along with her diaper. Jason put them back on her and she kept taking them off. Finally we just let her run around completely naked for a while and then Jason put her in a one piece zip up footed sleeper...LILY PROOF! Hopefully this is just a phase and doesn't last long...her naked little butt is pretty cute but I can't have my little girl getting all naked in public!

Cutie Puh-Tootie!

Just some recent cute pics of my little Silly Lily...love her to pieces!

Mommy is Thirty!

Breakfast in bed
Visiting Grandma Paces (Lily's Great Grandma)
Cookie Cake from Jessica and Kevin
Helping Mommy blow the candles out
Can you see Lily's owie under her eye?

Turning thirty wasn't so bad at all. Actually I wasn't even dreading the day...anymore birthday's are just another day on the calendar. My thirtieth birtday was probably the best birthday I have ever had. I was surprised by Jason the night before when he told me he took the day off of work. It is always nice to have him home...we both work 12 hour shifts and those make for very LONG days sometimes when you are stuck inside with a toddler! I always tell him he has it so easy...she sleeps all night when I am at work which means he gets to sleep too! Anyway, I was awakened by both Lily and Jason on my birthday with breakfast in bed. It wasn't just a cup of coffee and some cereal...it was the works! (picture attached). He got up early, as did Lily, and they were in the kitchen cooking and I didn't even hear them. It was WONDERFUL! We spent the day doing some shopping, visiting my Grandma Paces, and going out to dinner with my family. It was so nice to spend with the ones I love the most. I was even sent a surprise by one of my very bestest (is that a word?) Jessica in the afternoon. We had just pulled in the driveway when a car pulled in behind us. I asked Jason who it was and he didn't know so we kind of just ignored the man...until he got out of the car and asked if I was Missy. I said yes, and he said Happy Birthday! Jessica and Kevin had sent me a cookie cake...it was delicious! Thanks guys! I think children make everyday more special, but especially thirtieth birthdays :)

Snow Sliding

We thought we'd take advantage of the "warmer" weather to go outside and play in the snow. We have HUGE drifts in our backyard...so big Lily could slide right down them. In some spots the drift is taller than the fence and in other spots you can see the grass. Weird. Lily has a little cold and runny nose so we didn't stay out long, but it was long enough to have a good time!

Measurement Update~33 Inches Tall

Remember how I said when I took Lily in for her 15 month appointment the nurse had her height as being 3/4 of an inch less than what she was at her 12 month appointment??? I knew there was no way that measurement was accurate because #1 Lily was squirming and throwing a fit on the table and #2 there is just no way she is getting any shorter (most of her pants are flood pants :)). Jason and I measured her today and marked it on the wall. As of today she is exactly 33 inches tall...this makes much more sense. So she actually grew an inch instead of shrinking 3/4 of an inch!

Potty Update and 16 Months

Up until yesterday Lily was doing GREAT on the potty chair! She had gone everyday (and sometimes twice a day) on her potty chair until yesterday. I put it on her twice yesterday, but she wouldn't go. That's okay though because I know she is really still too young to REALLY start potty training. I just want to get her used to the idea of it. I usually put her on it first thing in the morning and then when she wakes up from her naps. Sometimes she goes right away and other times it takes her awhile. She knows when she goes because she gets up off of it and flushes with the fake flusher...its pretty cute (mommy is biased!) Not much new to report on her. She turned 16 months yesterday and she celebrated it with a cold. Her poor little nose is all stuffed up and snotty. Jason said she was up at 4:00 am on Tuesday morning because she couldn't breathe very well. I bought some saline drops for her and they have seemed to help a little. She does a good job "blowing" her nose with our help, but she still can't get all the boogies out! Poor thing! :(

Another Milestone

She did it! Lily peed on the potty chair today! She is just 5 days shy of turning 16 months old. I am so very proud of her and I could tell she was very proud of herself as well with her big ole gap tooth grin! She woke up from her nap and I said to her, "Lily lets go sit on the potty." She went right into the bathroom and I set her on it. She sat there for a few minutes and then I turned on the bathtub water and away she went! I have never been so proud :). I was so sad though because I lent my camera out to a good friend of mine from work so I didn't get a picture of her or of her results. :) Next time!

Potty Chair Trial

Lily got a new Potty Chair for Christmas, and I thought "What the heck...let's give it a try!" I know she is too young yet to really start trying, but we have the chair out so why not?! She has seen me go to the bathroom a million times and she even sits on a little basket in the bathroom while I go (sorry if this is too much info). I set her potty chair up in the second bathroom upstairs since that is where she takes her baths too. Last week I held her up on the real toilet and she threw an absolute fit...I think she thought I was going to let go and let her fall in or something. Anyway, she sat right down on her little chair and stayed on it for a while, but there were no results. Oh well...we tried! I just wanted to give it a try and start getting her used to the idea that someday she will have to potty on the potty chair and not in her pants.
