Wrestling with Daddy Lands Lily a Trip to the ER

I got home from the gym last night and Lily and Jason were wrestling.  Jason said Lily got up and was trying to run away from him, and he grabbed her, she lost her balance and hit the corner of the wall. I was downstairs on the computer and I hear a thunk and instant screaming.  Lily was screaming and Jason was screaming at me to come upstairs.  I picked her up and got her into the kitchen so I could see her face.  I knew instantly that we needed to get to the ER.  She had a gash in her eyebrow and blood running down her face.  We got both girls in their jammies and off we went.  I said to Jason that I was certain she would need stitches, and Lily heard me and just kept saying, "I don't want stitches, I don't want stitches" through her tears.  Avery must have been scared (she didn't see it happen, but must have heard the crying) and she hid.  Poor kid.

Lily was brave and she held ice on it the whole way to Children's Hospital.  We waited for about an hour before getting called back the first time.  A nurse weighed Lily and when she weighed in at 54 pounds, the nurse said, "Geez...you need to stop feeding that kid!"  Whatever lady, look at her, she is gigantically tall and thin.  Anyways, I held Lily's hand as they put a topical numbing gel on her cut.  She didn't cry at all.  They sent us back out to the waiting room to let the gel set in so the doctor could clean it up and decide whether she needed stitches or glue.

Another hour passed by, and we were called back again.  The kids were doing really good.  It was past dinner time and they settled for some vending machine snacks and they made friends with another little girl in the waiting room.  A different nurse put some more numbing gel on her head, and the doctor came into see her.  When he said he could glue it, Lily said, "YAY!"  The gel needed to set another 20 minutes, and of course another 45 minutes later the doc came in and glued her up.  No tears at the hospital...so proud of her!  When the doctor was done, she sat up and thanked him.  Finally, we were out of there at 10:30 pm.  The Dermabond will stay on for 5-10 days and come off on its own.  We can't get it wet, which means no swimming at school for her tomorrow.  She is a trooper and she did great!  Jason feels bad, but hey, accidents happen!

I must add that Avery did great, as well.  She was content with her orange juice and Cheezits.  She stood right by me and watched the doctor fix up her big sister.

Westwood Church and Preschool Easter Egg Hunts

On Palm Sunday, our church had their annual Easter Egg Hunt and puppet show.  It was a gloomy and rainy day, so the hunt was held inside.  Each kid got to find 22 eggs, which I thought was a lot!  The girls found all of their eggs, but they sadly lost all of their candy that same night because they wouldn't eat their dinner.  I know...I am mean, but they have to learn at some point.  I feel like Jason and I both give into them a lot, and I know their candy means the world to them so I was hoping to get my point across, but they still didn't really care and they still didn't  eat.

Lily had her preschool Easter Egg Hunt on Good Friday.  The parents hid the eggs all over the field just south of the YMCA.  They each got to find 10 eggs, and Lily quickly found all of hers! Avery snatched up a few eggs too!  I got some cute pics of her and her little school friends.  I wish I could slow down time...these ages are so much fun.

First Zoo Trip of 2014

Lily was on Spring Break the same time as Millard Public Schools was on break.  We took advantage of a nice day and took a trip to the zoo with their cousin, Bubba (my brother's son).  I took them to lunch and then we spent a good 3 hours at the zoo.  Bubba was a big help keeping the girls entertained.  I think everyone's favorite part was the aquarium.  The girls always want to play on the playground there, and I tell them no.  I think they would spend the entire time doing just that, and I keep telling them that they have 2 playgrounds in their own neighborhood and that we don't need to waste our zoo time playing at the one there!  Am I a mean mom?

Birthday Parties Galore!

The girls are blessed to have so many friends!  They have been to so many birthday parties this year, I can't keep count!  I wish I had more pictures to share, but I don't.  If you ever wonder why I post so many pictures on Facebook it's because that is the only way I can save them to the computer and get them on here.  My real camera hasn't been working the greatest, so I have been using my phone for most things.  Anyways...Lily and Avery have helped celebrate Brynn turning 6, Rylee turning 4, Maddox turning 5 and Olivia turning 4...next month we get to help Weston celebrate turning 2!  OH MY GOODNESS...fun times!

Brynn had a Frozen party at her house, Rylee had an Ariel party at SkateDaze, Maddox had a dinosaur train party at Bounce U and Olivia had a Frozen party at her house.

Red and White Spring Game

Jason got us tickets to the Nebraska Red and White Spring game a few Saturdays ago.  I didn't want to go at first, but then I thought "hey, we don't get to do stuff like this very often" and then I agreed to it.  We went down early and had lunch and walked around near the stadium.  It was 87 degrees that day and it felt HOT!  The girls were so tired by the time the game started and they were ready to go with just a few minutes into the game.  All they wanted was ice cream, so Jason got them some, but they still wanted to leave.  We stayed for about 30 minutes of the game and came back home.  Poor Avery was crying because she was hot, tired, hungry and who knows what else.  She just wanted to be held which was no easy feat for Jason or I when we were hot and tired too!  It was fun and I'm glad we went.  The girls like the cheerleaders and they liked all of the balloons that were let loose with the first score...oh...and of course Avery liked Bo Pelini walking out of the tunnel with his cat! :)

Swimming Lessons for the Little One

Avery has been very patient these past 3 1/2 years.  She has been toted along to all of her big sister's activities and now it is FINALLY time for her to do something!  Avery started swimming lessons last week.  She joined right in and had no fear.  She is a little go getter!  She has such passion and fire in her and I love that about her.  She is currently enrolled in the Pike group and she goes Thursday nights from 5-5:30 for the next 8 weeks.  Lessons are at the Armbrust YMCA.
