July 4th 2011

This is a picture heavy post...warning ahead!  Like I mentioned in a previous post we had a fun-filled jam packed weekend!  We usually head up to McCook Lake SD to spend the 4th with Jason's family, but due to flooding this year we stayed home.  We wanted to make the most of the weekend so we had something planned everyday.  On Saturday night we went to Village Pointe (see previous post) and then we had dinner at Mama's Pizza with my parents.  After pizza, we went to the Neihardt Elementary fireworks show...one of the best I have seen in a long time!  The streets were lined with cars, and we parked in a nearby parking lot and set up our chairs.  Couldn't have had a better view.  We also were able to see the fireworks from Werner park.  Lily got a new little camping chair so she thought she was pretty cool to sit with Ma and Pa Mike in her new chair.  Lily loved the fireworks and they didn't bother Avery at all.  I wasn't sure how Avery would do because a few nights before we had lit some off at my parent's house and she was shaking and crying because she was so scared.  I guess she just needed a little teaser to get used to them.  On Sunday, we went to The Children's Museum (see previous post), and on Monday we decorated the girls' wagon and took them to the parade in my parent's neighborhood.  I was a little disappointed in this year's parade.  I remember it always being packed with a ton of kids, and this year there were maybe 20-30 kids in it.  Oh well, the girls didn't know any different and still had a good time.  After the parade we went home and grilled some burgers and then took the girls swimming at Mahoney State Park.  Lily had a BLAST and Avery never cried and really liked being in the water.  She even fell asleep in the wave pool with Jason.  On our way home from the water park we decided to let Lily go on a pony ride at Mahoney.  She is growing up so fast and it makes me sad.  She looked so big riding that pony all by herself!  Next, we headed home for naps and then dinner at Chili's since kids ate free on the 4th!  We were a little fireworked out, but came home and finished off what little fireworks we had bought for Lily.  Gave the kids a quick bath and watched the rest of the fireworks from our couch, which ended up being awesome seats!  We saw a ton of huge fireworks just in our own neighborhood right from the comfort of our own couch!  Lily was up until 11-12pm all weekend and she must have been tuckered out because she slept in until 12:30 on Tuesday!!!  It was a fun weekend and I am thankful for all of the time I got to spend with my family.

 Open your eyes daddy!

 Ready for the parade!

 Ready to swim!

Lily fed her some chocolate ice cream and she wanted more, more, more!

We hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

The Children's Museum

We took advantage of Jason and I both having the holiday weekend off.  We packed a lot of things into the weekend.  On Sunday, we originally wanted to go swimming, but it was rainy and cloudy out so we went to The Children's Museum instead.  Lily had never been and we had a coupon so why not?!  This place is so cool with a TON of things for kids to do!  It was a little packed though being a holiday weekend.  Lily was super excited because the Dinosaur Exhibit is there right now. She is really into dinosaurs right now...thanks to Nick Jr.'s Dino Dan.  :)
Avery joined in the fun too!

 The T-Rex...pretty cool.
He scared her a little bit.
 RRRRRROOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRR! (Are we scary?)
Of course we had to ride the carousel.

Standing in line with Pa Mike to get her balloon animal.

Lily got a puppy balloon animal.
And...Lily got her little sister a kitty cat balloon animal and she DID NOT like it at all!

 Dancing her little heart out.
I always look forward to summer and the free live bands at Village Pointe on Saturday nights.  This has kind of become a usual Saturday night for us if I'm not working.  It is so nice to relax, listen to the music and enjoy a drink with my family.  My mom and dad go out there most Saturday's too.  It is fun and cheap entertainment for us and for the girls.  Lily loves to play with the giant water ball and she loves to dance up front by the stage.

LoVe

Need I say more?  I love, love, love these two girlies!

Avery's First Trip to the Zoo

I am way behind on my posts, but better late than never...so here we go!  Almost 2 weeks ago now I took Lily and Avery to the zoo and met a friend from work and her two kids there.  This was Avery's very first trip to the zoo!  Avery hung out in the stroller and was her chill usual little self.  Lily had a good time playing with Ethan and Ellie...Lily and Ellie are the same age.

 Always a happy baby!
Maddie and one of her friends joined us too, but they ditched us as soon as we got there.  I guess she is too cool to be seen with her Aunt these days!
Feeding the fishies with my babies.
 The kiddos watching the monkeys.
Lily watching the white tiger.
We had a good time, but it was a bit too hot out.  Next time I will make sure to go on a cooler day and a little earlier!  Hope you enjoyed your first zoo trip little Avers!
