Rylee and Lily

My friend, Jessica, had her baby girl on April 1st.  I got to see them while still in the hospital, but Lily hadn't got to meet her yet.  Lily and I went to visit little Rylee at her house today.  Overall, Lily has done pretty well with babies, but she does get a little jealous when mom holds them.  I know she doesn't understand that in a few months there will be a new baby in her own house.  Only time will tell how she will react!

Icky Poo

I got home from work this morning and Lily and I both laid down for our usual morning nap.  She slept for almost 3 hours...she has to get up at 6:00am so Jason can have her to my mom's by 6:30 and then I pick her up around 8:00...so she is usually pretty tired these mornings.  I woke up to Lily saying, "off, off and uh oh, uh oh".  I was pretty certain I knew what I was going to find.  Yep...I found a diaperless Lily sitting in a poopy crib!  ICK!  Thankfully most of it remained in the diaper and she wasn't playing in it.  There were just some smears on her crib sheets.  That's my Silly Lily...gotta love her!

Sunny Days

It is hard to keep little Lily inside these days.  It is so nice out and she just stands in front of the window and door and its like she is begging us to take her outside.  Once we go outside we can't get her back in!  We have been going on walks in the neighborhood, walks to get the mail, trips to the park and her new favorite thing is to color on the driveway with her sidewalk chalk.  I turned my back for a second and she was coloring on the white garage door in PURPLE!  I am loving this weather too.  I think it is helping my mood.  It was such a long winter being stuck inside.  I love being able to have the blinds up and the windows open all day long, and I love the crisp cool breeze at night.  The only thing I am not liking is my dang allergies!  I can't stop from sneezing!
I love her piggies!

Going to get the mail with Dad.

Unwelcomed Fevers

Lily and I have enjoyed the last few days outside playing with sidewalk chalk and taking walks around the neighborhood.  She started getting sneezy on Thursday and a little stuffed up but I thought maybe she just has some seasonal allergies.  She didn't sleep well on Thursday night and then she slept in until 9:45 on Friday morning and then took another nap from 11-1:30 on Friday.  When she woke up from her nap she was burning up.  I took her temp and it read 102.2.  I thought I'd wait another hour to see if it went down before giving her Motrin.  An hour later she was up to 103.  Weird.  She hadn't acted sick and she hadn't been around anyone sick...she's never with anyone but Jason and I.  I guess I get a little worked up when she is sick because she is NEVER sick.  This is only the second fever she has ever had...the first being when she had influenza back in October.  I gave her some Motrin and it brought her fever down.  She had a bad night last night...waking up almost every hour whining and crying.  When she finally woke up this morning she still had a temp of 101.3.  I felt better that it had come down.  I gave her another dose of Motrin and she spent the morning playing away like she usually does.  After her afternoon nap she woke up hot and fussy and not like her usual self.  She just laid her head on me.  Hmmmmm.  I know kids get sick all the time, but it is never any fun to see them like that.  We went over to Pa Mike's and we took her to the park.  She played, but you could see it in her eyes that she just didn't feel good.  She is all stuffed up with a runny nose.  Hopefully it is just a little bug that needs a few days to run its course. :)

Easter 2010

I'm a week late with this post...as usual.  I just can't seem to keep up lately.  Anyway, we were able to celebrate Easter with family and we had a great time.  On Saturday night Lily had her very own Easter egg hunt at Ma and Pa Mike's house.  We hid eggs for her in their backyard and she found almost everyone on her own!  We put jellybeans in some of the eggs and nothing in the rest.  Lily would find an egg, shake it, open it up if it had something in it, eat it and continue on...if she shook it and the egg was empty she threw it aside!  Smart girl!  She had a ton of fun.  After the hunt she came inside to find two big Easter baskets just for her.  She had one waiting from Ma and Pa Mike and one from Mommy and Daddy.  No candy yet this year...just raisins and fruit snacks, and clothes, and movies, and toys, and stuffed animals, and you name it she got it.  March Madness was still on so of course we had to eat somewhere with big screen TV's.  We enjoyed a nice night and good pizza at MaMa's Pizza.
Sunday morning we went to Church and then drove up to Sioux City to spend Easter with Jason's family at his brother's house.  We had a yummy Easter lunch and then the kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt outside and a fun game of kickball.  Lily's cousin Justin helped her find her eggs.  She doesn't get to be around kids very often so it is always a treat for her to spend time with all of her cousins.  Lily's cousin Rachel celebrated her 11th birthday on Easter as well.  Lily enjoyed a big piece of her ice cream cake!
I took way too many pictures as usual, and I always have a hard time deciding which ones to post on her blog.  The dress Lily wore on Easter was Madison's dress when she was Lily's age.  I know the hat is a little outdated, but I still thought she looked pretty darn cute!

Lily's Big News

Lily has some news that she would like to share with everyone...Lily says, "I'm going to be a BIG SISTER!"  Yep...its true.  Jason and I are expecting our second bundle of joy sometime in October.  Our due date is set for October 22nd.  Lily came exactly on her due date so maybe this one will too?!  So far this pregnancy hasn't been as rough on me as Lily's.  I think I am more tired than with her but I also don't get as much sleep with my schedule, no daycare, and chasing a toddler around.  Overall, I have to say the nausea and vomiting is much less, still there, but much much less than with Lily.  We don't know what our children are until they enter this world, so the sex of the baby will be a surprise to us along with everyone else.  :)  I will say that we have already had one ultrasound and the baby is already very BEAUTIFUL just like his/her big sister!

First Scrapes

While Mommy was stuck inside at work all day yesterday during the first 80 degree day of the year...Lily was still able to make it to the zoo!  Lily's Uncle Gary, Aunt Becky, cousin Brayden and Grandma Romaine made the trip to Omaha and met Lily and her Daddy at the zoo.  I'm sad I missed it, but glad they were all able to make it down to go.  What a BEAUTIFUL day!  Jason was too busy chasing our little monkey around the zoo that he didn't take many pictures.  That's okay because I know how fast the little monkey is.  The second you let go of her hand she yells, "GO GO GO" and takes off!  I think she has been cooped up too long this winter and she is rearin and ready to GO!  After she woke up from her nap I took her outside for a little walk up the street.  I had a hold of her hand, but she didn't like that for too long.  She wanted to "GO GO GO" and off she went.  She got going too fast for her little legs and took a nasty fall.  She only cried for a minute, but her legs were all scraped up.  She had cuts and was bleeding on both knees, both shins and on the tops of her little feet.  Poor baby.

The Farm

Last Sunday we traveled back to Newcastle for Brayden's baptism.  Brayden is the son of Jason's brother Gary and his wife Becky.  The are in town from Roseville, CA for the baptism and Easter.  Brayden is just shy of 6 months old.  Lily last saw him when he was just a month old in November when we made the trip out to California to visit him.  Lily quickly warmed up to everyone and had a great time playing outside on the farm.  She LOVED being able to run free outside and to see the cows!  She doesn't get to see the Kneifl side of the family very often so it is always a special treat for her.  She really enjoys being around other kids...her size and older.  She also got to spend some time with her cousin Miles who is the son of Jason's brother Matt and his wife Sabina.  Miles is just shy of 11 months.  Both baby boys are absolute dolls and Lily just loves to be around them!
I always like to go back to the farm.  It is so peaceful and just a completely different way of life.  It is a nice change of pace.  I am thankful that our daughter has this opportunity growing up.  I wish she was able to see her Grandma Romaine and Grandpa Eddie and her cousins more often that she does.  We will hopefully get back home more often here soon when Jason is off of his weekend rotation.

Pa Mike

Lily is so lucky to have her grandparents (at least one set of them) so close to us.  She gets to see my parents almost everyday of the week.  Last week when it was so nice out Pa Mike took her down to the park across the street from them.  Lily LOVES to be outside and she loves her Pa Mike.  Pa Mike is pretty much a sucker for all of his grandkids too!  I'm pretty sure there isn't anything in this world that he wouldn't do for any of them.

18 Months

I know I'm a bit late on this post, but better late than never...RIGHT?  Lily turned 18 months old on March 12th.  Doesn't that sound so old?  It is a year and a half?!  Where has this time gone?!  She is talking more and more and repeating sounds she hears.  Most of her words come when we ask her to say something...she she talks on her own it is pretty much mumbo jumbo, but still very cute.  She has become a very picky eater, and really doesn't eat much of anything unless it is a bowl of fruit.  Her newest thing is that she has been throwing major temper tantrums...MAJOR.  Anything can set her off at anytime.  When I say temper tantrum I mean kicking, screaming, punching the floor, throwing herself into walls, pulling hair, pinching our faces, and arching her back.  It is bad.  I don't know what to do with her when she throws one except for to just leave her alone.  The other morning she woke up at 6:30 (rare for her) so I went to get her out of her crib and she was so mad and throwing such a big fit that I couldn't even lift her up and hold her.  I am hoping these don't get worse when she hits the terrible two's.  Any suggestions from anyone on how to handle these fits?

Lily had her 18 month well check up on Tuesday.  She only had to get one shot...YEAH for her and for mom!  Although she doesn't seem to eat much anymore she is still growing like a weed.  Lily may look like her momma, but she for sure got her daddy's height!  I have a fear that my little girl may be 6 feet tall someday.  :(
Lily's 18 Month Stats
Weight: 25 pounds 10 ounces (2 pound gain from 15 months)~75th percentile
Height: 34 inches (one inch gain, I think, from 15 months)~ 97th percentile
